List of questions for your yacht charter broker

Aft deck, water toys, stabilizer, charter price details, VAT and many other things you should clarify with a yacht charter broker when booking a yacht to avoid any surprises.

You've decided to hire a yacht for a vacation. To find the right vessel and go through a secure booking, you would need an assistance of a yacht charter broker (which is free of charge for the client). It is not just enough to like the yacht and choose her sailing route to finalize the booking.

There are some questions you should clarify for yourself for things to go smoothly and to make sure the yacht has it all for your perfect vacation.

Things to clarify with a yacht charter agent when booking a crewed vessel for a vacation:

  • What is included and excluded in the charter rate?

  • How much fuel does a yacht consume during the cruise?

  • Does the captain know the cruising ground well?

  • How many hours per day does A/C run?

  • Does the crew (at least one member) speak English?

  • How does the yacht look in general (it may be old, but the maintenance is excellent, and it may be young, but look very bad)?

  • Is there a comfortable sea ladder for easy access to the sea?

  • Can the chef cook the meals according to your preferences?

  • What is the exact list of water toys available onboard?

  • Is there Wi-Fi and is it included in the charter rate? Is there any limit in consuming GB?

  • Is the aft deck dining table large enough to accommodate all the guests onboard comfortably?

  • What is the size of the beds?

  • Is there shampoo, shower gel, soap, towels on board?

  • Is there a music system outside or only in the saloon?

  • Is there enough sun mattresses for everyone?

  • Is there a lounge area foredeck?

  • Is there a jacuzzi?

  • Is there a wine fridge?

  • What coffee machine is available onboard?

  • Are the sails working or just for the decoration (accurate for some gulets)?

  • Are there TV, DVD player, board games, music system, Sony Playstation (or similar) onboard?

  • Can you bring your pet with you?

These are saloons of two different yachts with the same weekly rate. As you see, one saloon has quite a modest interior design, another one - very homy and nice.

The questions mentioned above are not all accurate for you. So there’s no need to ask all of them. Just choose yours and add the ones that are important for you and go ahead. The more you ask the better for you to be 150% satisfied with the charter yacht to sail.

I would also recommend paying attention to the interior design, whether it’s too dark or too old for you. Yachts of the same price range may have a totally different interior. Some would have a very old style, others - modern. Is there a bathtub, sauna, hammam on board? Is there a stabilizer for a smooth passage (accurate for motor yachts)? These are a few more questions I remembered underway.
